A photo blog in Lieu of commentary.

When I left you last, we had been branding calves and planting.  We finished planting before the big rains hit.  It hasn't stopped raining it feels like for a stinking month.  The crops look pitiful and are infected with rust and fungus which reduces yield and quality.  We're lucky, at least our crops are in.  A lot of people have little to nothing planted.  Many area towns are fighting flooding problems.
We've been busy trying to catch up on fencing and cow work in between rains.  So without further delay, photos from the last month, condensed of course.

We threw a party for the retiring school teachers at our one room school house.

Its not a party without Sombrero's.

Grandma built her dream house for Maggie.

 Siding added.

 A view of the deck.
More photos later of the finished product.

Maggie has helped us move cows.  Sometimes I let her take a break to climb the nearest hill.

 Catching a ride with mom

 Picking flowers for mom.

Gathered out of a seven section pasture.  Takes a couple of hours.

 The "Boss" and Dixie conferring.

Lining out and heading out to the new pasture.  They know where they are going.

Big old girls fighting for who knows what.  It took another three miles to get it figured out though.

Looking east down a small coulee. Can't have green without the rain I guess.

Looking west.  Trees? Must be a house nearby.

 Good fertilizer.

Another conference? I'm missing something important.

Johnny handsome.  Soon to be out with the ladies.

Can you identify this fungus?  Its yellow with a textured  surface.  Grows in clumps the size of golf balls to tennis ball size.  Usually found several in an area.  The most I've seen in one area is 15 globs.

It has the consistency of thick coolwhip, and is very slimy.

We made our annual Fathers day trip to Fort Peck Dam, a week early.  I'm working patrol on Fathers day for the Match Bronc Ride in Jordan.
They have cool visitors center at the dam with a dinosaur theme.

 Looking at turtles.

These are casts found from finds in our area.  Some very important finds have come from Garfield county.

Just a cool pic Mary took with my camera.

 Maggie looking at the fish.

I've always thought they could make a cool aquarium with lake fish.  More people stop and watch the catfish and carp than the Dinosaur exhibits.

 Whiskers of the catfish.

I've built my own Zombie Land Range.

I have 20 reactive targets, 17 paper targets, and 5 fixed barriers.  I want to add a couple of moving targets and a couple of movable barriers.  Its a work in progress.  I'll leave it like this this summer, note some changes I'd like to make, and start a more permanent  structure next year.

Well thank you for stopping by.  Have a good week and don't work to hard.

The pictures are great, and tell a great story. Thank you for that.

The zombie range looks inviting, too - pity I can't help you kill a few of the undead.

You are a busy man! I love the playhouse, and would have loved it even more at Maggie's age. She is one blessed little girl to have a real playhouse. The country looks wonderful, but I know you are sick and tired of mud, and I am sorry about all the disease problems due to wet weather. This is a year of extremes, and I am sure it is G.W.'s fault!

Wow, that's a big playhouse! Almost a cabin in its own right!

The museum trip looks like it was fun - and I have no idea what the mushroom is. I'm glad you've got the crops in, despite the rain.

Its sort of a joke about the playhouse being my summer place. It is really pretty big. We'll be trying to get it moved into place soon. Still working on the logistics of that.
The rain has slacked off some and the crops are starting to look less pitiful. We're supposed to it the 80's this week. Hooo-rahh.

Oh my, that playhouse is huge and absolutely adorable. What girl wouldn't want her own place like that. Looks like a family campout will be in order. Angus did pretty darn good manning the camera. You taught well! Thanks for the branding lesson. We never branded, just ear tags. Glad to see everyone is well, I have been gone for a while... Hi to Mary...
